Lewellyn Nel and Jurgens Lubbe from Team Induna going over Marc’s Drop on the Blyde River.
The Blyde River Runs through the 3rd deepest gorge in the world and it is here that you will find Team Induna and their clients negotiating class 4 rapids in two man inflatable rafts.
You have to be quite fit to do rafting on the Blyde River, as it is a full day. We meet at Swadini at 7:00 in the morning. From there we head to the river. Getting into the 3rd deepest gorge in the world is a bit time consuming, but 1.5 hours later we are at the water’s edge, this is also the firts time guides can check out the water levels.
After a Safety Brief all head for the rapids!
On the 22 of January, the level was medium low, making the trip quite easy. All the nasty rocks are covered so you don’t get stuck, but t is low enough so that when you fall out of the boat it is not too stressful.
At Ally’s staircase we had a few swimmers (people who fall out unintentionally) but with a quick hand from the guids al came through unscathed.
